COURSE 1

Acute Care

(Hospitals and Rehabilitation) Positioning and Transferring People Safely 

The "Acute Care- Positioning and Transferring People Safely" provides an online comprehensive manual handling training course for nurses and other health professionals.

 

It covers procedures to safely reposition people on the bed and transfer them on and off the bed, chair, trolleys or off the floor.  It includes the use of slide sheets, hoists, bed mechanics and other equipment such as hover jack and hover mat.

The course complies with national health and safety legislation and is endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The course is divided into two components:

 

a) Training and learning

The training component consists of five training modules which include all the manual handling tasks carried out in a hospital associated with repositioning a person on the bed and transferring them on and off the bed.

 

Each module has:

• Case study

• Detailed step by step description of each procedure

• Short vignette of each procedure

• Quiz to test your knowledge

 

b) Assessment

The assessment consists of twenty randomised multiple-choice questions. The pass mark is 80% with three attempts and a certificate with 2 CDP points is provided on successful completion.

COURSE 3

Disability

(Disabilities)  Transferring, Moving and Repositioning People Safely

This course provides comprehensive manual handling training and assessment for carers and students working in disability services.

 

 

It covers safe operating procedures to safely reposition people on the bed and transfer them on and off the bed, chair and other activities of daily living. It includes the use of slide sheets, hoists, wheelchairs, bed mechanics, shower trolley and other equipment.

 

 

The course complies with national health and safety legislation, the principles of the Disability Act and is endorsed for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The course is divided into two components:

 

a) Training and learning

The training component consists of five training modules which include all the manual handling tasks carried out in a hospital associated with repositioning a person on the bed and transferring them on and off the bed.

 

Each module has:

• Case study

• Detailed step by step description of each procedure

• Short vignette of each procedure

• Quiz to test your knowledge

 

b) Assessment

Meet Louise
